In the Races
Democratic NYC Councilman Michael McMahon, candidate for the 13th Congressional District, received a number of endorsements this past week including the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union, as well as local Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU).
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic members of the city’s congressional delegation are also behind McMahan. Brooklyn attorney Stephen Harrison will challenge McMahon in a Democratic primary.
On the Republican side, Frank Powers and Dr. Jamshad Wyne will face-off for the GOP line. The 13th Congressional District includes all of Staten Island and part of Brooklyn.
Clayton Town Councilman Bobby Cantwell has entered the race for the 118th Assembly District as the lone Republican.
The list of Democratic contenders includes Macomb Town Council member Laureen O’Toole and Jefferson County Legislator Addie Jenne Russell. Massena businessman Don Lucas is running as an Independent.
The 118th Assembly District covers St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties, and has been vacant since Darrel Aubertine was elected to the Senate in a special-election this past winter.
