Kuyahoora Outdoors with Bill Lloyd WKUY-LP radio
Today,Saturday 23rd~ John Petrie President NYSMLA.ORG and I did an hour long radio show with Bill Lloyd. Bill is/was the 1st President of the NYS Muzzleloaders Association. That was 31 years ago.

We will be making camp Friday afternoon so stop out shoot your smokepoles or shoot some bull which ever makes you happy.
Shooting starts Saturday/Sunday AM til app. 3 pm.
Bring the kids as the park has a modest play ground , pavilion & rest rooms.
NYSMLA will be having a pork supper, complimented by a bring a dish donation from those who wish to eat with us.
The following weekend is Kuyahoora ~ KVR's fall shoot @ their club house ~ same deal set up Friday, start a fire, burn some vittles and shoot the bull!
These are rain or shine events.

Rochester-area billionaire Tom Golisano will support Western New York Democratic Senate candidate Richard Dollinger. Dollinger is challenging Sen. Joseph Robach (R-Greece) for the 56th Senate District which covers the towns of Brighton, Greece and Parma and much of the City of Rochester. Golisano is expected to make financial contributions to Dollinger’s campaign from his newly formed “Responsible New York” committee.
Robert F. Kennedy has endorsed Democratic and Working Families candidate Jonathan Smith for the 102nd Assembly District, currently represented by Republican Joel Miller. Smith faces a primary challenge for the Democratic line from attorney Gary Levine. The 102nd Assembly District includes the towns of Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park, Wappinger, Clinton, Fishkill and LaGrange.
New York Times endorsements
In a surprise twist, the New York Times has endorsed community activist Paul Newell in lower Manhattan’s 64th Assembly District. The Times selected Newell over Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who for the first time in decades is facing a three-way challenge for the Democratic line. The Times’ endorsement of Newell over Speaker Silver is makes a strong statement about how badly change is needed in Albany.
The New York Times also endorsed Daniel Squadron in his bid to win the Democratic line from long term incumbent Senator Martin Connor in New York’s 25th Senate District. The Times cites Senator Connors as accomplishing far too little over his three decade tenure in Albany as a reason to consider taking another direction.
Democratic NYC Councilman/Congressional candidate Michael McMahon received the endorsement of the New York Times. McMahan is running to replace Rep. Vito Fossella who announced a few months ago that we would not seek re-election to the 13th Congressional District which covers Staten Island and a small part of Brooklyn.

The State of New York has a strong interest in reducing gun violencein this state. It also must ensure that those law-abiding citizenswishing to purchase guns can do so. The protections set forth in thisbill will enhance law-enforcement efforts to reduce gun violence,without infringing on the rights of legitimate gun owners.
BUDGET IMPLICATIONS: This bill will help New York State comply fully with the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007, and thereby avoid the possible future loss of federal funding. DOH and OMRDD will incur some costs in implementing the NICS improvements, but some of these costs will be offset if the State qualifies for and receives any federal grants provided for in the NICS Improvement Amendments Act, if Congress appropriates money for this grant program.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This bill would become effective on November 1, 2008.

Senate in Albany for special session
New York State Senators were in Albany on Friday, August 8, holding a special summer session. Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Center) was expected to bring Governor Paterson’s plan for a property tax cap to the floor of the chamber for a vote.
NYSAR supports the governor’s property tax plan, which would cap the growth of school property tax levies at four percent a year or 120 percent of the consumer price index.
The Assembly will not join the Senate in Albany today and a spokesperson for Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver says the speaker is open to the idea of a property tax cap, but does not want it to come at the expense of shortchanging schools and children out of needed funding. The Assembly and Senate will both return to Albany on August 19 for an “emergency economic session” called by Governor Paterson.
