On Feb. 19 2014 the 10 circuit court vacated the appeal made by Wild Earth Guardians (the wolf lawsuit, Wild Earth Guardians Vs McClintic and Lane).

The appellate court remanded the case to district court with their older to vacate. The appeal only focused on McClintic (a single commissioner who lacked any authority to singularly affect a rule) and did not include Lane, i.e., did not include the Department of Game and Fish. The court found, (actually stated) that, in their oral arguments, Wild Earth conceded they had no standing in the case.

This is a clear victory for the State of NM, the NM Trappers and member groups of the NM Sportsman's and Landowners Coalition. At this time it is unclear if the summary judgement (case law) issued by the district judge will remain. The summary judgement was based on the merits of the case. The very best outcome at this point would be for District court to leave that portion of their ruling intact. This could happen since Wild Earth did not include Lane and the Department in their appeal and therefore the appellate courts ruling only would apply to McClinitic.

In other words science has nothing to do with the issue it's agenda and where they want wolves. Mexican wolf taxonomy is questionable according to the new science and even Distinct population segment classification they are planning on now is questionable since the most recent science also shows this wolf has genetic lineage linking it to the somewhat more Northern (than NM and Colorado) Rockies plains wolf as well. Scientifically, the new planning is entirely indefensible. We have ourselves an entirely new can of worms should we choose to analyze it and act on it.

Another quote from Dr. Cronin. "The near extinction of the plains and Mexican wolf subspecies makes attempts to characterize their genetic makeup particularly problematic because the living populations from which samples can be obtained may not represent the original genetic patterns."

Geeze give the Feds a break will ya!! I mean look at it like this . It make take another 400 or 500 deaths. if the U.S. Feds can track 1 or 2 firearms from operation gun runner at each shoot em up. Then in theory those doing the tracking will have jobs till retirement.

Ya know, I bet if those firearms that walked if they had no muzzle break, protruding handgrip or magazine capacity restriction and the magazines were registered this would have never happened.

On another city New Yorkisstan's new Mayor has vowed to get rid of the horse carriages. seems the animals rights religious wing dings have his ear. They are suggesting a old time looking electric car. WTH who's making a buck off that idea?

 IMO if the carriges go in NYC. Then the mounted police in all of New Yorkisstan need to be given up. I mean to state that is the anti's see the carriages as animal cruelty then the mounted police are just as  guilty as the carriage s are.

 then again lets elevate this to make all Amish do away with using horses in their daily activity.

So the new Mayor of NYC is in favor of banning all horse's in New Yorkisstan that are used for transportation.

CA gun owners rush to beat shotgun and rifle registration law

A new California law that requires stores to register the sale of rifles and shot guns with the state has helped spur businesses at gun shops in Redding as consumers rush to beat the Jan. 1 deadline.And while gun owners grumble about the new rules, dealers say the law will do little to hurt the sale of firearms in California.
Starting Wednesday, all rifle sales in California will be treated the same way handgun sales have been in the state since the 1970s.
In addition to an individual background check, a dealer record of sale that includes the make, model and serial number of the long gun will be required on every sale or transfer. Prior to the new law, the record of a rifle purchase was destroyed after five days.
"It hasn't impacted handgun sales at all and I doubt they are going to seriously impact long gun sales," Rich Howell, general manager of Olde West Gun & Loan on North Market Street, said of the dealer record of sale. "People are still going to purchase firearms."
Indeed, the Great Recession hasn't affected the gun industry in California.
Year-over-year gun sales in California in 2012 jumped 36 percent to 817,738 and were more than double the number of handgun and rifles sold in the state in 2007, according to the Department of Justice.
Howell said about one of every four people who has purchased a rifle in his store the past few weeks did so because of the new law.
Howell, though, also attributes prison realignment, the state's shift of placing low-risk related prisoners into custody probation programs, to a rise in firearm sales and other issues playing out across the nation in which people are purchasing fire arms for personal protection.
Gun owners interviewed today said the new rifle registration law is another example of government intrusion that will do little to keep guns out of criminals' hands.
"It's just another level of bureaucracy to pass along to law-abiding people," said Ithiel Carter, shopping for a rifle in Olde West Gun & Loan.
Rosario Orosco came in to Jones' Fort on Cypress Avenue to sell a gun. Orosco asked what's to stop somebody from now going to another state and purchasing a rifle.
"That's kind of crazy," Orosco said of the new law. "There are millions of rifles out there that aren't registered, and now they are going to try to do that?"
The law only affects the sale and transfer of rifles. The state is not going to attempt to go back and register rifles sold before Jan. 1, 2014.
Patrick Jones, manager of Jones' Fort, said the new law is significant and disheartening.
"It's depressing to people because we keep seeing new legislation that we don't feel is directed at criminal behavior at all," Jones said.
Jones fears the new law allows the state to create a massive "dossier" of legal gun owners.
But like Howell, Jones doesn't think registering rifles and shotguns will hurt sales.
"We're certainly not done selling firearms. It's just that they (rifles) will be treated differently," said Jones, who also sits on the Redding City Council.
